As warmer weather arrives each Spring, so too come changes in spending habits for consumers. As Gulf Relay COO Andy Vanzant says, “the first Saturday when you see a full parking lot in Lowe’s or Home Depot means times are good.” Why? Because when parking lots are full that indicates consumers are out spending dollars on items which equates to products being shipped and truckloads being full. Seasonal spikes are nothing new in the shipping cycle, but being prepared for these indicators helps keep operations running at maximum efficiency. That’s why at Gulf Relay we are prepared to tackle any spike or challenge the market throws at us. So the next time you can’t find a parking spot as you are going in to get that needed item for a home project, remember that busy is an indicator of consumers spending dollars which helps drive the overall cycle of supply chain.
